Minoan Jewelry

The Bronze Age civilization that flourished on the Mediterranean island of Crete is known as the Minoan.
Because Crete lay near the coasts of Asia, Africa, and the Greek continent and because it was the seat of prosperous ancient civilizations and a necessary point of passage along important sea-trading routes, the Minoan civilization developed a level of wealth which, beginning about 2000 bc, stimulated intense goldworking activities of high aesthetic value.

How to clean silver

To keep your silver looking it’s finest; here are a few tips and techniques to follow.
Silver should be washed and dried by hand; it is definitely not a dishwasher friendly item.
Do not leave silver on a rubber mat to dry as rubber contains sulfur which can cause corrosion to the silver. It is important to use a soft cloth when drying the silver to prevent scratching.

With frequent use your silver should stay tarnish free; however, everyone is faced with occasional polishing. Apply the silver polish according to the manufacturer’s directions. Be sure and rub the polish in thoroughly. With a dry polishing cloth, buff the surface of the polished silver to a bright sheen.
You can make your own silver dip to remove tarnish with ...

Discover Analipsi vilage in Hersonisos Crete

For the traditional heritage of our ancestors, the area of Analipsi has known a rapid tourist development. If one goes back to the past of this area, he finds out that it had nothing in common with the fabulous place extending before the visitor’s eyes.
Until the ‘80s, Analipsi was just fields and plains with a few, scattered houses kept by the inhabitants of Lassithi. It was then that tourist growth started in the area. Hotel complexes, new houses and apartments for rent made slowly their appearance, next to small cottage houses. This astonishing phenomenon of landscape transformation has continued during the ‘90s until today.

The greatest advantage of the area is its coastal zone, which is upgraded with the construction of the beach road leading to its breathtaking beaches; most of them have been awarded with the ‘Blue Flag of Europe’.
The haven of Analipsi with its sandy coast is distinguished for its clear water and for its beautiful, well-organized beach. If you wish to go sightseeing in the village, you should not miss its church dated back to 1890.
Nowadays, the church has been fashioned and a new wing has been built to it. Nevertheless, there are many old, exquisite icons exhibited here.
Nowadays, there are many new hotels, as well as apartments to let in Analipsi, where one can stay for his holidays. The number of beds available in the area counts to 4500!!
There is no doubt that Analipsi is a considerable point of reference and a very promising tourist destination.

A gold bracelet worth $1,300 (£774) has been found in a car park in America by the winner of a treasure hunt.

The hunt is part of Devon Fine Jewelry's Finders Keepers event where more than $25,000 (£14,890) of jewellery, including gold rings and pendants, has been hidden around the town of Wyckoff, New Jersey.

Peggy Diamond was the lucky winner. She told CBS Radio: "My heart's still pounding, I've never won anything."
The ten-day event is part of the store's 30th anniversary celebrations organised by the owner Nancy Schuring as a "thank you to the communities that have shown support and loyalty over the years".

White Devon bags marked with orange Finders Keepers labels will contain the prizes and each bag contains a letter explaining that the finder is allowed to keep the jewellery.

The hunt will be running until November 26th and 30 bags of treasure can be won.

THE CRETANS

THE NAME OF THE CRETANS
